Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing personality traits, conflict management, and quality of work life among physical education teachers in Iraq. The research employed a survey design using standardized questionnaires on personality traits (Gosling et al., 2003), quality of work life (Walton, 1973), and conflict management styles (Putnam & Wilson, 1991). The statistical population consisted of all physical education teachers in Iraq, which, according to the latest inquiry in 2024, amounted to approximately 13,200 individuals. From this population, a sample of 323 participants was selected using the G*Power software. To analyze the data, after confirming the normality of distribution, multiple regression analysis was applied. The results indicated that conscientiousness, agreeableness, and openness to experience were the most significant predictors of teachers’ quality of work life, particularly in the dimensions of fair compensation, personal growth, and overall work-life climate (p < 0.05). Moreover, extraversion significantly predicted safe and healthy working conditions and growth opportunities, whereas neuroticism was only significant in predicting social integration (p < 0.05). Regarding conflict management, the findings revealed that extraversion, openness to experience, and agreeableness were the main predictors of compromising, collaborating, and accommodating styles, while conscientiousness and neuroticism showed no substantial effects (p < 0.05). Overall, these findings suggest that personality traits play an important role in shaping both the quality of work life and conflict management approaches of teachers, providing valuable insights for empowerment programs and human resource policy-making.
